PBS has filed a lawsuit against the administration of President Donald Trump that defies his executive order aimed at the public transmission.
The demand for PBS, presented at the United States District Court in Washington, accuses the administration of illegally interfering with the operations of the Corporation for public transmission and committing multiple violations of the first amendment: discrimination of the point of view, illegal reprisals against the network and the invasion of PBS press freedoms. The order blocks federal funds to NPR and PBS in the maximum extent allowed by law, According to an information sheet of the White House. It also prevents indirect financing from PBS and NPR by prohibiting local public radio and television stations, and any other CPB fund receiver, from the use of taxpayers’ dollars to support organizations.
